Wendy and Sheldon tell the story:

  • Wendy Rogers (CEO)

It was the end of 2014 and I had an offer on the table to sell eSUB to a strategic party. Sheldon came recommended from my late stage co-founder (Benny Baltrotsky) as someone who had been on both sides of many transactions and could share some insights.

  • Sheldon Lewis

When I first met with Wendy she wasn’t interested in raising capital. Although still early, she had built a great business and had a meaningful exit opportunity at hand.

  • Wendy

The offer was very tempting, but I knew the business was capable of so much more if we could add capital to fund additional resources.

  • Sheldon

Wendy and the team had bootstrapped the business to decent size, but the product and market was capable of so much more. After diving into the business with Wendy and Benny, we made an offer to invest and join the Board to help her accelerate growth.

  • Wendy

We had been approached by plenty of venture capitalists and growth equity firms, but most of them wanted (at minimum) $10 million in revenue and to be honest, Sheldon was the first one I really felt comfortable working with.

  • Sheldon

Like most bootstrapped entrepreneurs, eSUB is Wendy’s baby and she was very careful with who she partnered with, rightfully so. I met with Wendy multiple times to get to know her and the team and I offered up anyone I had ever worked with as a reference.

  • Wendy

I did my diligence on Sheldon and it was apparent he was the right partner. When I gave him the thumbs-up, he moved quickly and was able to get the deal done in a matter of weeks.

  • Sheldon

Wendy and the team hit the ground running with the funding. They made key investments in people and product, propelling the business to new levels of growth. We worked together to structure the business for eSUB’s accelerated trajectory.

Bobby, Sheldon, and Wendy tell the story:

  • Bobby Ocampo

Sheldon kept talking about this company and while green, it had a sticky customer base in a category that was ripe for disruption. I met with Wendy and Benny and after we did our diligence, we moved quickly to invest. We partnered with eSUB in early 2015 and worked closely with management to scale the business.

  • Bobby

Over the next eighteen months, eSUB continued to grow rapidly and was attracting significant strategic and investor interest. Wendy, Benny, Sheldon, and I were working together navigating these waters. Raising a significant round of financing wasn’t on the near-term agenda for eSUB, but we were so compelled by the opportunity we collectively decided to double-down and lead eSUB's next round. The business had tripled in size and we were eager to continue ramping given the customer unit economics were holding strong.

  • Wendy

Sheldon and Bobby are unlike most other investors. They have great investment experience, but have also been a part of fast growing businesses, so they can relate to what I am going through. They never pretend to know more about my business or industry than I do, which I love, but have been extremely helpful as I think through challenging situations and I structure eSUB for the next level.

  • Sheldon

Wendy, Bobby and I have all become very close and are completely in sync. Wendy and the team have done a fantastic job with eSUB and been able to grow revenue by over six times in the last three years. eSUB is positioned as a market leader in the space and Bobby and I are very excited for what the future holds.
